Yeah, I can't help but view Under Thunder & Flourescent Lights as an extension of American Don.
I'm not sure which album came first... but the guitar work is damn near identical.
I can swear I hear some American Don licks in there, verbatim!

Talker is a REALLY good album. "Stupid Deep Indoors" perfectly captures the feeling of being frustrated. i get this really vivid image whenever i hear it of a four year old kid who has just had this upsetting experience where some adult wouldn't listen to him. he tries to tell parents about it, but they won't take him seriously 'cause he's four. he is one frustrated kid.
do U.S. Maple play live anymore?

I'm pretty sure they toured with Pavement & The Dirty Three like several years ago.
They came here to Houston, but I missed the show.
It was on Pavement's Terror Twilight tour.
That's the last I heard.

Downloaded Pablo Casals' renditions of Bach's unaccompanied Cello Concertos yesterday...
Haven't listened to anything else since. God, I love cello.

I've just discovered and have had on high rotation a Hungarian fiddle player by the name of Lakjo Felix. I can highly recommend this here for anyone who likes listening to the dirty three. Fucking intense stuff & the zither player off the last dirty three album cinder was a lajko cover.

I just got the Pavement Wowee Zowee: Sordid Sentinels Edition reissue yesterday so I've been listening to that quite a bit. Aside from that, though, I've been getting pretty fucking heavily into The Sea and Cake. Great goddamn band.
