What're the best full show boots? I'm glad I'm not a Deadhead. Here we go... Both of the 1992 recordings are important historical documents and essential listening, even if the sound quality isn't so great. Washington DC 1997 is my favorite live recording. It was their first show after a two-year hiatus and it's just a ferocious performance. Look for the soundboard version - it's crisp. Columbus OH 1997 is another nice recording with different, early versions of some of the songs from What Burns. Columbia SC 2000 is a weird, stilted performance but the soundboard recording is practically all drums, if you're into that sort of thing. Atlanta GA 2000 might have been the American Don lineup's best show. It's the famous one where Damon and the soundman argued throughout the show. Cleveland OH 2000 was the last performance by the American Don trio and it exists as a nice audience recording. Cleveland OH 2003 (recorded by the same guy) is kind of embarassing to listen to. 2004 and 2006 were the best years for the four-piece Don Cretabourzia lineup. There are some good recordings out there; I just can't remember which ones they are. And I have yet to hear a truly stellar show by the Punkgasm band. I hope this helps!

Is there some reason not to just grab them all? Sorry if that's a dumb question. I assume not many people are bandwidth-challenged these days.

Well, there's a lot of American Don era recordings out there, and most of them kind of sound the same after a while. Same with Punkgasm era. So it's just a question of whether or not you really want or need to hear most of the songs from the album played just like they were on the album, only with crappier sound.
Then there's a handful of DC2- and WBNR-era audience recordings that are unfortunately rather difficult to listen to due to sound quality.
Basically the recordings that I find myself going back to again and again are the ones with exceptional sound quality, a particularly great performance and/or some sort of historical significance.

It is so low on disk space that I have to delete my internet history every 15 minutes just to keep it from crashing.
