To anyone who listens to Four Tet. I have only read about this stuff. Where should I begin? The one response I received on another board said to start with 'Rounds."

I've only heard Rounds (see also: avatar), but it's good. I'd start there and work backward.

I agree that starting with Rounds and working back is a good idea, but I personally have liked every Four Tet I've ever heard, so I say it's pretty safe to start anywhere and work anywhere else. My first Four Tet album was 'Dialogue', the debut. You can still find it, no doubt, but it might not be very easy or cheap.

Thanks for the help. I bought it, and I really dig it. Have you heard the new Trans Am? Also very good.

Yeah, I really didn't care at all for TA, and even some stuff on Red Line left a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth. I just can't stand it when a band takes irony too far. A lot of the shit Trans Am did, especially on TA, just was not humorous to me. Liberation harkens back to their earlier stuff.
I don't think I elaborated quite enough earlier: Rounds is just magnificent.

Anyone who's into Four Tet might be interested in investigating the work of Fridge. It was the band Kieran Hebden was in before he started Four Tet. Some of you on the board may like it.
I'd agree that 'Rounds' is a pretty good album to begin with too.

i would actually disagree, and say to start with the new hells/four tet split 7'' thats coming out...his song on there is really good, and the hell song is sicker than sick.

Shawn: you've heard this? I've got both of my local record stores trying to get it for me, but I don't think they're going to pull through. So, I emailed Ache this morning and I'm hoping I can just send cash straight to them... Good stuff, eh?

i got it when Hella came to San Diego about a few weeks ago. the merchandise guy said it hasn't been released yet and they'd just picked up some copies the night before. i'm not sure if it has come out as of now... Hella's site doesn't mention anything.

I'm think I'm going to see Four Tet in Cleveland live this Wednesday and I was wondering if anyone on the board has ever seen him live. What's the set-up like? Does he play live instruments? Does he have guest musicians?
Thanks.
