ahhhh, the mighty squarepusher finally shows up on the message board. i am a jenkinsonian disciple. i follow and study his works quite seriously. i think everyone should check out all of his records and go see him play. i think he actually is the greatest musical genius of modern times. i think his music will be appreciated and studied the way bach's compositions were and the way zappa's are now. go see him , he's touring now in the US.

im gonna go see him in phoenix. i talked with someone in brighton, UK who just saw him do the orchestral thing with jamie lidell and the london sinfonietta last week. she said it was the most incredible thing she's everheard. i cant wait. i saw him in june 2001. it was truly mind expanding. please post a review of the black cat show!

What up wit dat first post 2? I agree, square isnt anything too original, but hes amazing live, and one of the few legendary warp acts that you can actually go out and see in the US. Ill be sure to post a review of the black cat.

oh, i wasn't being sarcastic. i think he's terrifically original. and really totally beyond other warp stuff although i love warp records. he clearly puts so much more into making his music than anyone else and the talents he started off with are also top notch.

Squarepusher is brilliant. The limited edition version of Ultravisitor looked very enticing in some photo's I saw but I haven't come across it. Autechre are probably my favourites on warp though, especially their latest works.

Yea, Autechre is the shit as well...this thread seems to be growing a lil bit so i'll list some truly amazing "idm" artists for yall to get into.
Besides Squarepusher and AFX:
Chris Clark Proswell (thnx phase) Ilkae Flashbulb Cylob Mu-Ziq aka Kid Spatula Nautilis Tim Tetlow MUM (kinda downtempo, but glitchy with candy vocals) Manitoba Dntel Savath & Savalas (folk songs....) Telefon tel Aviv (fahrenheit....) Bogdan Radzynski Luke Vibert aka wagon christ aka plug aka amen andrews
that should do it for now....have fun

Yep Squarepusher isn't too bad, isn't there an album with a Joy Divivsion cover on it too? I've heard he is pretty good live too, I'd like to think the songs work better in a live setting.
I would have to say that I prefer Autechre too, with I think LP5 being my favourite. I missed seeing them live at last year's ATP which was a bit annoying. I'm finding their newer stuff a bit hit and miss though.
The last Amon Tobin album 'Out from out where' was quite good as well if anyone's heard it.

hello DC, if you want the limited version of ultravisitor, you would have to order it from warprecords.com, but they are sold out. maybe they'll make more? (probably not but they pop up on ebay. )
good luck!

Hey, fellow IDM freaks, cool. That is a good list, too, lyd. I'd like to add some to it, if I may: L'usine (aka L'usine ICL) Proem Gimmik Lackluster Casino vs. Japan Christian Kleine Fennesz Bauri Twerk Gescom (Autechre's other incarnation) Tim Koch Arovane CiM Kettel All stuff that gets regular play from me. This type of music is the best for playing computer games or working to, sometimes even driving. If you're kickin' it with a lady and just need something soft and mellow yet not boring playing in the background, it's not bad either...
