alright, i notice there haven't been any posts here lately, so what the hell - why not start the most generic thread ever?
what is your favorite Don Cab song and why?
i like "no one gives a hoot about FAUX-ASS nonsense" for several reasons. a) very nice drum-solo sections. b) the most natural sounding 5/8 guitar part i've ever heard. c) the way they switch up where the emphasis is (do they switch up where the beat is?) on said guitar part is TOO cool. d) vocals in a Don Cab song ("yea!"). e) almost forgot... that super-sweet guitar part at 5:48 that they only play like four times.

What I think is especially cool about 'No One Gives A Hoot...' is how the outro drum beat is basically the same as the intro beat in 'Don Caballero 3' on WBNR. So, in my mind, the two records segue into each other. However, my favorite Don Cab song (thus far) is either 'June Is Finally Here' or 'Ones All Over The Place'. 'June...' does Explosions in the Sky better than EitS themselves do, and I just get lost in 'Ones...' ;D Also, in 'June...' the sound panning is great. In the right speaker there's truly beautiful guitar work, while in the left there's harsh strikes and squeals - until the two sync up towards the end, and combine their sounds. It leaves me googly-eyed.

I'll never get sick of these songs:
"Belted Sweater" "Andandandandandandandandandand" "Please Tokio, Please This is Tokio" "Repeat Defender" "No One Gives a Hoot About Faux-Ass Nonsense" "Delivering the Groceries at 138 Beats Per Minute" "Slice Where You Live Like Pie" "June is Finally Here" "Haven't Lived Afro Pop" "I Never Liked You"

My favorite Don Caballero is hands down "Slice Where You Live Like Pie"
Many Don Cab songs appeal to me on different levels, some are frantic and upbeat, others mournful and jarring, and other still just completely visceral experiences.
I feel "Slice" accomplishes all of these things. From the beauty of the picking in the intro to the momentum built through to the crushing "chorus" this song is fantastic. It has the element of pure ambient beauty that is paired nicely with hard rocking sections... and everything in between.
To me this song covers the range of emotions that Don Cab can produce, and does it in perfect form. Not too long, and not too short, enough emphasis on drums bass and guitar, so that none dominate the song, as well as an overall coolness about the entire thing.
definitely my favorite, my most listened to Don Cab song for sure.

Well, musically I think The Loudest shop vac in the world is one of their strongest, as well as Palm Trees in the Feckin Bahamas.
But I am also a huge fan of World Class Listening Problem, Stupid Puma, Niqued and Liqued, Pour You Into The Rug, Punkgasm, ... Hell it's all good.
