Good lord! That's the first decently written Pitchfork review I've ever seen!

It's an alright review. I think they give too much credit to Ian Williams, though, I don't know if the band really considers him the "frontman..." and in any case, the review doesn't mention Dave Konopka at all. I think EP C deserves a higher rating, and that Tras deserves a lower one for sure, but at least they didn't slam the CDs or hype them up ridiculously.

hmm...i dont really kow what to say to this, i have a few disagreements with it as well...to say that ian williams (or anyone else involved with don caballero) wasnt a 'driving force' is poop. also, to say he served as a 'lead guitarist' is turds. they say john stanier is 'unspectacular', when he is just right for the job. and thats excrement. nothing on either of those recordings sounds like unwound, and that's gross shit to think that.
they are also assuming that dave k's guitarwork isnt a factor of battles, when they dont really know, and that sounds to be like fucking farts. they also say williams and co arent there to dick around, when they clearly are...
and that, as you all know, is dung.

Just to clarify - I share much of the same sentiments as Phase and TetraG about the opinions in the review, but I was just so surprised to read a review on Pitchfork that wasn't 9 paragraphs of bullshit about what the reviewer had for dinner last week and only 2 sentences about the CD (which has historically been par for the course on Pitchfork). What's really embarrassing for me is that I haven't heard any official Battles recordings yet I really must go buy some of them...

Hey BriKelly, let me know if you need a copy of some of their stuff. I got all of their stuff except for EP B. Let me know. I don't agree with their review either. I hate pitchfork because they think they are better than everyone else. They can eat a dick.

And yep, Pitchfork can suck sweaty hairy donkey balls.

ha ha ha ha.....
man, that's funny!
pitchfork is complete shite. everyone knows it. the only thing the site is good for is tour dates and album release dates.
and i'm like you brian... i haven't heard any official released material from battles either. just bootlegs and what not. i think i'm probably missing out.
