Nice to see they're getting some column inches over here in the UK too. Apparently all the tracks for the Eps were recorded at the same time which I hadn't really thought about before.

yeah, I picked up the issue yesterday. It wasn't too bad. I wasn't sure what to make of the comment on seperating the recordings into EPs to "break down their sound into smaller bits".

I wasn't sure what to make of the comment on seperating the recordings into EPs to "break down their sound into smaller bits". See, I can pretty much understand that, in a way, even relate to it. With just about any other band that I actually enjoy, I'll take as much of it as I can in one dose. Battles, though, I generally do take in smaller doses. This is in large part, I'm sure, because there are some Battles songs that I really, really like a lot and some that I skip almost every time. This means that they only really have a little less than one full-length album's worth of stuff for me to listen to at present.

They released a bunch of ep's cuz of dearth of material. 3 tras tunes and bttls (lamest joke song evaar) make this clear. Whatever else they may say... that is the root reason why they went with ep's. That stuff is hard to write. You cannot blame them. Besides, EP's rule.
