The tour page is the only one on the bttls.com site that ever changes. I think they've had a video page 'COMING SOON' forever and the discography doesn't even list the Warp EP C/B EP release. Also, there haven't been any pics added since before their Fall 2004 tour, when I first saw them. Neat website, but it needs to be updated more.
The only website that I can think of that's handled worse is the Good Morning one.

That said, I love Battles. I've seen them twice, and had a blast both times. The first time I went by myself, and they hadn't really garnered that much of a following yet so I easily slid up next to the stage. Right in front of John Stanier's kick drum, in fact. That was incredibl(e/y loud.) My ears were so fucked up, but I drove back with a smile for the whole ride. The second time I went with my girlfriend and couldn't even get in the club. Some guy that we were stuck with outside looked like he was about to cry. I felt really bad for him, and I know that the band hasn't been back since. Hopefully, he really got to see them in a nearby state or something. Anyways, it was when they started fusing their songs together, so you heard little snippets of songs at a time. I remember them playing the first 5 minutes or so of 'S Z 2' before segueing into another song before finally coming back to the funky last half of the former. We were able to see in through the club windows and they were blazing through the songs. I think they were trying to condense their set even more, because Prefuse 73 was coming on at midnight. John Stanier was pounding his hi-hat with such ferocity that I thought the damn thing would shatter like a windchime.

The first & only time i've seen Battles was last year in Edinburgh & due to too much consumption it wasn't the greatest gig experience ever. I also managed to piss Ian off i think, approaching him in a very ordinary drunken state, but that's another story enitirely. There's nothing quite like totally fucking up a gig you really want to see by being too intoxicated is there. Apparently, well i don't know how reliable this is but i've heard that battles may tour Australia this year (so i can only hope that happens so i can stay sober & make ammends then). Does any one know if any new material is being played live at the moment?

went to the dublin gig hoping they'd be better live than recorded. wasn't overly impressed by them on cd, but they were fucking sexy last night. best gig i've seen in a long, long time. even the support act, decal + david lacey, who i'd seen before and wasn't a fan of, were really good. much better than the first time.

The hordes on thumped.com tended to agree...sounds like a class gig all round!

i don't know if there were any new songs because i've only got one of the eps and i don't know it very well. i did hear that someone was talking to tyondai braxton afterwise and asked him about the possibility of an album. he said something about it coming out in the next few months. i have to say though, this is word of mouth and i've no idea how reliable it is.

Ok, well wiki mentions a new album with the possibility of a september release, not sure where they get their source from though. Fingers crossed battles release their first full length this year though, along with new mars volta & crime in choir albums this year is shaping up pretty good.

Just back from Battles London Ether Fest appearance! A pretty interesting show indeed. They played a few new songs and some 'old' favourites (I say old but it's funny to think they've yet to release their full length) - Sorry about my vagueness here! I've yet to hear any of the new album apart from Atlas but live I thought the new songs with Dave bass-ing it up, seemed to have quite a bit of menace to them. One of the songs, with Tyondai building up his vocals to quite glorified, uplifting harmonies, I thought was pretty impressive, especially coupled with John's jarring drumming on it. As for Atlas, I'll have to admit on initial listenings I wasn't sure about it. Did I find it catchy, annoying, too jaunty or even comedic? I'm still not sure yet. There were sound probs during the song with the vocals (closing vocals disappeared) where the sound man maybe went awol I think. Having said that, I'm looking forward to hearing them play Atlas again live, it sounds like a song that might really mutate into something increasingly more tribal and hypnotic than was hinted at tonight. There were cameras rolling too, at the back of the hall so hopefully we may see something come out in some capacity too. It's a shame it was a sit down gig as maybe the audience and the band might've have benefitted from being on their feet. Certainly there was no climbing on the drumkit from Dave this time! Sorry, this is all pretty vague at the mo, but just thought I'd throw in my ten cents worth. A good show all in all, maybe not their best show compared with the last couple of times they've been over here. They seemed a bit dwarfed by the venue and echoey sound but they were still pretty darn good when they locked in with the older stuff. It seemed like a bit of a preview show in some ways, a hint of what was to come when they return. Get to their shows if you haven't had a chance to already, judging by the crowd they're unlikely to stay a 'special little secret' for long. Oh, and they closed with Dance. You know it.
