I don't know how it's possible, but Battles got so much better than the list time I saw them and they were amazing then, too! I was smiling the whole time as was everybody around me. They are definitely one of the most exciting acts in music today. The new music sounds incredible, and they've even added new touches and reinvigoration to their old material so it sounds even better. You absolutely positively MUST see them live if you have not done so. I picked up a copy of the new single and poster, although I wish they had had t-shirts for sale

Yeah, I gotta echo CioCio (did you see them in DC?) and say that Battles is amazing. It's a shame that Damon wasn't able to move beyond Don Cab in the same way - the stuff they are doing (if it's really fair to even compare) blows away what Damon has done with the 'new' Don Cab. Maybe that is an unfair comparison, but I'm just really impressed with how Ian, Tyondai, et al. have taken the things they started in their old bands (and solo stuff) and created some so totally new and inspiring. I would love to see the Poison Arrows/Knot Feeder/Battles show. I really dig Knot Feeder, too.

But, no, I saw them at Local 506 in Chapel Hill, NC. From what Dave Konopka was telling me after the show, it sounds like they'll be coming back to tour the states again after heading over to Europe for another batch of shows. Maybe you can catch them then, cliff?
