So NME are pushing BATTLES. They've got this little player here with the new album www.nme.com/artists/battles/media/543You gotta make some sort of NME account to listen to it. I did it, at this point nothing bad has happened, but ya never know. It's worth listening to for the running pre-track commentary by Ian Williams. Kinda silly stuff mostly.

the NME has, in the last few years, turned into an awfully shite magazine. another shite magazine is the RTE Guide. for those of you who don't know, it's an irish lifestyle/TV guide sorta thing. their review of mirrored (four out of five, album of the week) in this weeks issue shows just how inept they are at music reviews/research.
"It's an audaciuos sound underpinned by former Helmet drummer John Stainer's relentless barrage of complex rhythms and the wildly intricate, almost African sounding guitars of Ian Stewart and Dave Konopka."
God bless that Ian Stewart. Without him playing two guitars and two keyboards at the same time, who knows what would become of Battles.
