a friend got me this for christmas. so far i've only listened once and it was at party so i wasn't much paying attention. i did notice it seemed better than miss machine, which was dull to the point of irritating. personally i don't think they've done anything as good as under the running board.

They lost all they homies love as soon as Miss Machine dropped. They're a different band now to when Calculating Infinity came out.

well yeah they are definitely a different band. but theyre not just spitting out the same songs with the same formulas. this album has something for everyone, from technical to pop.

I'll check it out. I really like Irony is a Dead Scene, but then I would, being a Patton fan.

I doubt you could map a formula for what they did on Calculating Infinity. I understand what you're trying to say but I'd take Calculating Infinity over anything they've done since, at least it was consistent. Personally, I don't value albums which have 'something for everyone', I'd probably love compilatiions a lot more if that were true.

i had another listen to this yesterday, it's a pretty decent album but it isn't half as good calculating infinity. it wouldn't make sense for them to make it too similar because of the line-up differences. i'm just glad mike patton wasn't there for too long.

Ire Works was one of best albums of 2007, I love how they have expanded their sound over the years.
