anyone else heard it yet? i've given it several spins since last night and i don't think it would be too far fetched to say this is some of hill's best (if not the best) work. for now, at least. www.myspace.com/zachhillmusic

got the 2xLP Monday and have spun it many times. Great record, some really out there stuff as expected but some really solid stuff which is a relief. I love the more straight forward tracks he pulled off, such as keep calm and carry on. Definitely up there as far as works from Zach go.

I didn't need that eye surgery either.

I plan on searching for it soon. I've been waiting since it was announced on Pitchfork.

With the both Zach and Spencer doing solo stuff, is Hella still going or are they on hiatus?

according to zach it's 'a gray area'. zach and spencer both put out a solo album of course, but carson moved to portland and is working on solo music and various things it seems, and josh... who knows. carson and josh both played on astrological straits though. aaron is a question mark though... no idea what he's been up to other than the fact that he put out a solo album last year.
zach is also working in a project with prefuse 73 (called RISIL, they're on myspace) who he is also trying to get to produce his next solo album he already has planned.

Really digging "Keep Calm and Carry On". I hope the rest of the album, song by song, will grow on me over time.
I first heard Hella when their first album came out, but have only come to understand/appreciate their whole approach to things in the last year or two. My favorite thing that Zach has played on is the first Marnie Stern album, though, and lately I've been listening to "Shred Earthship" much more than is probably healthy for one person to do.

A guy from a certain prominent prog-jazz band told me months ago that Hella had broken up, though I suppose if Zach says "gray area" I'm inclined to believe Zach.

Hella are back together as a duo and working on new material, according to their official myspace.
