Despite no release by good ol' Don Cab, this has been a fantastic year for music. I've been so overwhelmed with the amount of quality music that's come out this year. I still have so much catching up to do.
Favorites so far (a rough best of '09 list):
Coalesce – OX Animal Collective – Merriweather Post Pavilion Grizzly Bear – Veckatimest Pissed Jeans – King of Jeans Mastodon – Crack The Skye Isis – Wavering Radiant Zu – Carboniferous Mono – Hymn To The Immortal Wind Baroness – Blue Record Sunn O))) – Monoliths & Dimensions The Flaming Lips – Embryonic Converge – Axe To Fall Sonic Youth – The Eternal
They are still a ton of records I have to listen to; such as the new Wilco, Mew, Lighting Bolt etc.
Please chime in with your favorites and recommend any solid records I'm missing out on.

Like most years I've been discovering older music and not really getting a lot of new stuff. My album of the year: Television - Marquee Moon

Ah I completely forgot about Knot Feeder. Did anyone listen to Poison Arrows-First Class and Forever? I've been meaning to pick that up for months, I think I'm gonna grab a copy off of amazon.

Saw them last night supporting Dethklok/Mastodon. I didn't enjoy any of it because I was so grumpy. You see, I thought High On Fire was 2nd on the bill, but when I got there I realized Converge was going on and I'd missed seeing HoF. Grrrr. Dethklok *SLAYED*, btw. Go see them if you get a chance.

I'm sorry to hear that you missed High on Fire =/ I'm going to be catching this tour on Sunday. Sooooo pumped. I've been a fan of Converge for years and I finally saw them for the first time early this year. I still can't wait to them again and hear the new record live. I'm most pumped for Mastodon since I've yet to see them (again being a fan for a while) and High on Fire is the icing on the cake. Honestly, I'm not THAT excited to see Dethklock, but I'm sure they'll be a good time.

I think maybe Divinations from Crack The Skye could be the my favourite song of the year. The rest of the album is really growing on me too.

The Last Baron might be my favorite song off of Crack the Skye, but I really like most of the song off that record.
