en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravity_rollAnybody else heard of this? Also known as the "one-handed roll", "rim roll", "the freehand technique" and, in the context of a blast beat, a "gravity blast". youtube.com/results?search_query=gravity+rollyoutube.com/results?search_query=johnny+rabbAs anyone will tell you, it's fairly easy to figure out but difficult to master. I started messing around with it today and can do it with a 7A stick in my right hand, and only with the snare drum head cranked up quite a bit higher than I generally like it. Hopefully with practice I'll be able to do it with a bit more power and control, and with bigger sticks and less tension on the drumhead. I mean, imagine being able to play stuff like the roll at the beginning of "I Agree.. No.. I Disagree" with ONE HAND! ...leaving the other hand free to work on a Sudoku puzzle or jerk off.

gravity rolls are pretty cool but i have never seen anyone able to do it loud enough so that it could work musically, unless they were using triggers or something.
