Hey guys! Long time lurker - first time poster. Figured it was time to post since I have some "insider info" to share.
I took a trip to Pittsburgh recently with some buddies and we went to the Smiling Moose. I really wanted to go because I knew it was where Don Cab used to play a lot back in the day and also because I heard their beer selection was amazing.
After talking with the bartender for awhile, she told me she was good friends with Damon and had known him for a long time. They have a lot of the same friends and has even babysat his pet rabbits on several occasions!(?) (Now I get the back cover of "Last Type Story"...)
Anyways, when I asked her what he has been up to these days musically, she told me that Don Cab (at least the current version) was definitely done and said Damon wasn't sure if he would even do it again or not. She added that he lives way out in the boonies and no one really sees him anymore. It sounded like he's living a pretty secluded life these days with NO musical activity.
Can any Pittsburgh people confirm this? Banfield??
Damon is one of the best drummer's of all time and it's way too early for this guy to just call it quits! I don't even care if it's Don Cab, Speaking Canaries, or whatever - He should do something. I'd love to hear it. Solo album???
Just wanted to post this to the fans who might care - Thanks!
