So a new spin on old songs plus 2 "never heard before" songs. Vinyl pressing. Don Cab as a 3 pieces. Before Ian. Now in the words of chunklet : December 1991. Mere months into their existence, a three-piece Don Caballero drove to the Carnegie Mellon campus and knocked out eleven songs. On this, their earliest-known studio recording, the nascent Pittsburgh titans crank out jams that would appear in different form on early singles and their debut full-length, For Respect. Two songs would never make it onto a proper record and are here for the first time ever. As a special bonus, the band’s second live show is included as an additional download along with the record. Mastered by Drew Crumbaugh Lacquers cut by Bob Weston Vinyl pressed at Erika All copies thru mail order on CLEAR VINYL which is unavailable in stores. CHUNKLET MAIL ORDER EXCLUSIVE!!!!! "Look At Those Ellie May Hands Go". The live recording provided on limited black vinyl with all orders. NOT AVAILABLE IN STORES! Of course, while supplies last. To be clear: "Five Pairs" on clear. "Ellie Mae" on black. Got it? Good. check out this place for pre orders www.chunklet.com/store/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&product_id=118check out this place for a preview of things on there: www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FwnotH8PRcNow this is great news, even if its not new material, this is even better in my book. old stuff, garanted not to suck, a new ( old ) take on some famous songs.. might be one of the few really stoked for this, and boy i am stoked for this!!! i figured that the 2-3 others guys that still check out this place from time to time would also be stoked about this, or not. But there you go...

Here's one of the "2-3 other guys" checking in.
I didn't spend a dime on any of that Record Store Day nonsense (I saw that Merge released Breadwinner's "The Burner" on LP for the first time ever and thought "oh, it might be cool to own that," but then I realized I'm already quite happy with my CD copy) - then two days later I'm giving Henry Owings the long number that begins with a "4" in exchange for a t-shirt and two LPS that say "Don Caballero" on 'em.
I knew Henry was holding out on us!

its a beautiful thing, mang. imo, this was the truly golden era of doncab, nothing tops schumann center 91 and waltorr for me, well, theres some others like puddin and andandandandandand and rocco. however, this is the side of don cab that i totally prefer. i forget if i posted anything here, but henry has uploaded a ton of doncab live vids on his youtube and maybe we didnt make posts here about em. make sure to check em out if you havent and subscribe. he's got a ton of great live vids there. www.youtube.com/user/chunkletguy

Hopefully there will be some copies left by the time i have some cash to spend on records..... Just got a new bass amp, and i already got my share of new records this year so far. Kinda dry on funds so to speak... going to NYC in a month too, so i'm saving up for that as well... Anyways, fingers crossed that some copies will be left in a few weeks when i have the necessary funds available for uncle Henry! if not then i'll resort to discogs to get my slice of that pie....

I know how the internet works, Shawn. The 'For Respect' thread briefly bumped this one for the top spot.
We definitely need new blood. I would hate to think that the sour taste of 'Punkgasm' made some people throw out their old Don Cab records or, worse yet, never even check them out in the first place.

seems the record has been delayed by a month... "UPDATE (27 May): Due to production delays on the bonus record, preorders won't ship until late June. A million apologies." www.chunklet.com/index.cfm

At least if we could have the digital downloads before the end of june to make up for delays.... There is 4 songs on Chunklet's Soundcloud. Sounds rough, but in a very good way, can't wait for the vinyl to arrive and check out the sounds in my hi-fi stereo...!!!

If you ordered you should have gotten an e-mail from henry and he is offering the digital download for people, you just need to e-mail him. I sent him an email and had the download 2 hrs later.... haven't had the time to sit and really listen, but it is sounding cool.

I did send a email to Henry yesterday and within minutes the download was available via dropbox. He sent me the wrong download to begin with, but the right one afterwards. so i got Don Cab's Five Pairs of Crazy Pants plus the live record and along with that, Major Motion Picture double album... Not to familiar with the later, but its not bad....
