Reckless Records says they now have the single-LP version in stock. Here's the blurb, which was almost certainly written by Reckless employee Matt Jencik:
I have received my downloads but I am withholding my comments until I've heard the vinyl.
Back in the late 80's, Pittsburgh wasn't exactly known for its music scene. There were some exceptions including HALF LIFE & CARSICKNESS & the popular punk venue ELECTRIC BANANA that hosted pretty much every popular touring band that you could name at the time. Something happened in the early 90's though & the scene totally exploded. That something was the formation of the mighty DON CABALLERO. Seemingly overnight a slew of great bands sharing members popped up including SLUDGEHAMMER (featuring future DON CAB/BATTLES guitarist Ian Williams), Karl Hendricks Trio (Karl was also in SLUDGEHAMMER), NORTHERN BUSHMEN (Pat from DON CAB on guitar) & THEE SPEAKING CANARIES (Damon from DON CAB playing guitar, Noah from 'THE BUSHMEN on drums & Karl Hendricks on bass) along with many more. Folks who were lucky enough to see their early shows as a trio (this reviewer included) witnessed a true force of a band. Their shows could be downright scary & often featured some sort of theatrical performance, including Damon Che dressed as the SCTV character Guy "Don" Caballero that they were named after, complete with the vintage wheelchair (yep, that's what's on the LP cover, kids). This LP courtesy of Chunklet features their earliest studio recording from WRCT at Carnegie Mellon University & includes many of their early single tracks, stuff that would later appear on their debut full-length "For Respect" & two songs that were previously unreleased until now. Now everyone can hear what an epic band these guys were right from the start. A bonus download of their 2nd show is also included. AMAZING.
