Solid record. First Choice , Tuck Dive, and Mastering the Mountain are my favorites. A lot more ambient at parts than I was expecting. This is the first endeavor I don't hear as "not caballero." Material holds it's own live too.
Go KF!
Who else picked up on the suspiciously Repeat Defender-esque noise towards the end? A nice thought for the "Ian mastery" thread.

came in the mail today, listened through two/three-ish times... i think this is the most enjoyable 'post-caballero' release i've heard yet.

Why don't you just buy it so Mike and the guys can get some money so they can tour?

Yeeeeah.... just buy it. 100% of the money will help these guys out, it's a great record, and costs around one drink at a bar with tip. Just do it.

this record proves the genius of mike banfield. this record is better than any don cab record after what burns. in my opinion the key to don cab's power and brilliance was the combination of mike and damon--just listen to the singles, it's all there, the groundwork was laid...
...without ian.

It's great. No bullshit on this album. Banfield came hard.

On my first listen, this album had me worried. On the surface, Knot Feeder plays some of the most unsettling, uninviting, unresolved and downright off-putting music I've ever heard (and mind you, I actually like all sorts of math, metal and noise stuff).
Fortunately the album is a grower. A big-time grower. After repeated listens, the songs begin to make a kind of sense. Some of the most effective moments happen when the dissonance of the guitars is reigned in by the cello or else given context by the vocals. These songs are a nice contrast to the more stripped-down four-piece band sound of the rest of the album.
I have a lot more to say about Knot Feeder's ultra-dissonant approach to math rock vs. the recent trend of marrying pop hooks to math rock stylistic hallmarks (see M. Stern, Maps & Atlases, some recent T. Melos and parts of the new Don Cab), comparisons between Light Flares and DC2 and contrasts between Light Flares and Punkgasm, but for now I'll leave it at this: FUCK YEAH!! KNOT FEEDER!!@!
