Spoke to Mike about 4-5 months ago, he told me that he has not played his guitar in over a year ( since the feeders broke up), i was really bummed out when he told me that.He also told me that he might feel the urge to pick it up again someday or not. Felt to me like he was burned one to many time about being in a band that he belived in and broke up yet again and was for the most part unnoticed... Real shame cuz' that Knot Feeder record was really good, one of the better bands out the Don Cab familly tree along with Poison Arrows and Six Horse. But Mike was a total class act, anwsering my mail and all my silly questions and was very kind and everything....

Too bad about Knot Feeder. Many of us on this forum know how hard it can be to keep a band together, or to get the ball rolling again after a long period of inactivity. "Life gets in the way" has long been my standard excuse. Still, I hope it hasn't completely soured Mike on the joys of playing music and that he picks up that old Les Paul again before too long.
Based on his solo piece on DC2 and his interest in stuff like Hans Reichel, I always figured Mike would record a solo guitar album someday, sort of in the Fahey / Glenn Jones vein, maybe half electric / half acoustic. That could be great.
Are you reading this, Guitarist Mike Banfield???

Oh yeah, i know first hand how hard it is to keep a band or still have the drive to keep a band alive.. heck i never was in a " successful" band and it is still damn hard to keep the energy going and finding time to put out a record, tour ect... all off that mot of the time for nothing... it can burn you out, especially when you grow older, you start to ask your self, is it worth it??? me bieng in this game for the past 16 years, a few months ago took a leave of abcense, when my son arrived.. but i got back to it latelly, with a vengence... Hopefully the same will happen with Mike, and he will put out music once again.. we musicians are like drugs addicts, we always relapse...
