Pitchfork is bullshit - we all know that - but one sentence in Brandon Stosuy's review of La Di Da Di got me thinking. "Super specific images" indeed. Somebody else on here once mentioned that the intro to Don Cab's "June is Finally Here" reminds them of waking up on a pleasant early summer morning, stretching their limbs and wiping the crust from their eyes. Incidentally, that's same image/sensation that I get from the song. I can almost smell the freshly cut lawns. Then there's the pick scrapes that sound like frogs at the end of "Delivering the Groceries." What Burns Never Returns is a very "green" album. I'd like to think I would hear it as "green" even if the album cover wasn't. For Respect is red (fire/heat/anger) and Don Cab 2 is blue/gray (smoke/concrete/industry). It makes you wonder if the album covers were chosen to synaesthetically complement the music contained therein. And then there's Battles whose music is frequently described as colorful, with album covers to match. I just wondered if anyone else associates specific images and colors with the music of Battles and Don Cab.

Interesting link, thanks for posting. I would agree with Dave about the viewer's reaction to the La Di Da Di artwork; I'm not really a huge fan of it.
