DON CABALLERO (Damon Che: drums, Jason Jouver: bass, and Gene Doyle: guitar) will return to Rust Belt Studios in Michigan with producer / engineer Al Sutton to record our new full-length Punkgasm. Working song titles include: "Slaughbaughs Ought Not Own Dog Data", "Aw Man, That's Jive Skip", and "Bulkeye". Punkgasm will see a late summer release via Relapse. "I know this sounds like an obligatory and potentially phony statement but, I at least, firmly believe this will be the "best Caballero yet". All clichés be detonated." - Damon Che 4/'08 www.myspace.com/doncaballeropgh

Jeff was an awesome guitar player and added a great deal. I wished and wished he would re-join the fold. But the last 2 times I saw them with just Gene, I was impressed by Gene's ability to hold down guitar on his own and do interesting things.
Also, the new material caters to what the band is now as a 3-some.
Every record does something different with this band, and this one is not an exception. Especially since Damon sings on it and there's a lot of improvisation.

I've been thinking a lot about the new album - more than any sensible person should, really - and I still think that "Punkgasm" is a terrible title. Every record does something different with this band, and this one is not an exception. Especially since Damon sings on it and there's a lot of improvisation. Do you mean to say that you've HEARD the new record?

"Punkgasm" isn't funny and not really a good name for a record. They should go with "Don Caballero VI"

Punkgasm? Full-time 3-piece? Damon singing? Tracks that are comprised of studio jam sessions?
This...does not look good. And there's no way in hell it's going to be the best Caballero yet. Sorry, guys. Just being realistic here.

Sorry, guys. Just being realistic here. I don't think that Damon ever promised WCLP to be the "best Caballero yet." Didn't he just assure that "it would be a great album"? Despite "Punkgasm" being a poor album title, why are we all so cynical here? As diehard fans, we should at least think, "Eh...maybe" instead of "Eh..." Ian will never be in Don Caballero ever again.

I'm excited...not like ecstatic, but I think it will be as good as WCLP at least. Hell, maybe they're so confident about the music that they don't give a shit about the title.

Nah, I haven't heard the new record, but they played new material at their gigs last summer and Damon talked about improvising, you know, playing rather than worring about structure.
I think the title is not as classy as Don Caballero VI, but I don't really care, I think "punkgasm" is funny, I would also like to hear something punk -related on there, they can do it.

Why no Jeff then? I thought he was temporarily out due to his wife giving birth last year & 1/2 ago, or so? Are we sure about it, or is it speculation? Big on the four peice thing. 3's nice too though.
