I've been told to put sticks in my attic for a few months to dry them out. Apparently it pretty much doubles the lifespan.

Have any of you ever had problems with repetitive strain injuries from drumming? Not sure exactly what it is but something in my left hand (a tendon or something like that) gets quite sore when I've been playing for a few minutes and then tends to get better.

It's almost always in my left. I stopped playing for about eight weeks last year and it didn't make a difference. Doing rattly/bouncy stuff on the snare seems to trigger it really quick. Don't think I ever heard about anyone having to give up entirely because of it so hopefully it's curable.

Currently for sale on Craigslist Chicago: a "Premeir drum set emal for pictures" with "qualaty girbralter stands" and "Zyldgen cymbles".
I love the internet. My cat could throw up on my computer keyboard and probably come closer to correctly spelling "Zildjian" than this fucking juggalo.
Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

I have carpal tunnel in both wrists and tendonitis in my right hand, which aren't entirely from drumming but being a drummer doesn't help. Looking into the carpal tunnel surgery soon but I guess with tendonitis you just gotta rest the joint and ice it for a few days whenever it strikes.

A friend of mine was saying the upright/double bass player in his band has been told to lay off playing for six weeks due to tendonitis. God damned bass players... always moaning about something or other.

Just bought some Aquarian graphite sticks to try and curb breakages. Only used them for about a minute so far and I'm not too impressed. Also I needed to replace a tom head and I went for one of those Evans hydraulic ones. Not impressed by that either.

Those graphite sticks are a bouncy, bendy, top-heavy joke.

Tiger Balm seems to work on the sore tendons and shit. I rubbed it in before playing last night and the pain never appeared.

more info about the 30" sabian! At long last, here is my 30 3/8" Sabian AA Medium Heavy Ride. You can see the faded AA logo at 5 o'clock. The floor tom is a 16" and the cymbal above the big guy is a 24". O hai, that drum looks awfully familiar. I couldn't help it. Damon's snare sound is my all-time favorite. I had to have it for myself.
